Do I need to know how to code?
No. The AI assistant can plan, write, build, and fix code from plain-English requests. Experienced developers can dive into the code any time.
Which AI does it use? Do I need my own API key?
FableForge works with Anthropic (Claude), Groq, Google Gemini, or fully local models via Ollama. Local models are completely free and need no API key at all — install Ollama and you're coding with AI at zero cost, fully private. Groq and Gemini also have free tiers. If you do use a cloud key, it stays in your Mac's Keychain and is never sent to us.
What Macs does it run on?
Any Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later — Apple Silicon and Intel. The app is signed and notarized by Apple.
How many Macs can I use one license on?
Up to 3 Macs that you own. You can deactivate a Mac any time from within the app to free up a seat.
